Thank you for the pictures of Vandergrift No 1. That is the department that served the area where our family's homes were. I was also a member of the Thunderers from 1952 to 1956. The corps was sponsored by a wonderful group of firemen.

GREAT WEBSITE.
I DROVE PASSED YOUR STATION ON 3/20 AND SAW RESCUE 51 SITTING OUTSIDE. VERY IMPRESSIVE. I WANTED TO STOP AND CHECK IT OUT, BUT I WAS ALREADY RUNNING LATE.

I found this very interesting since I grew up in Vandergrift. I was born in 1937 and raised in Vandergrift. I graduated from Vandergrift high school in May 24, 1956. In 1946 they hosted W. PA Firemans Convention and the Parade lasted 3 1/2 hours at that time. I lived on Linden street and the parade went down the street. I would like to see any pictures of the Ahrens Fox Pumper that the had in 1927 and used for 40 yrs. If I recall, back in teh 60' & 70's, Vandergrift had 2 of the best Eqiupped Fire Dept's in W.PA. Do you have History of Vandergrift and Maybe the Fire Dept in a book, or whatever you may have that I can aquire from you?

29 year , 2nd generation volunteer from Michigan. My grandfather was born in Vandergrift in 1905. Ran across your site during family history search.

Thanks for your help welcoming the PA Hero Walk to Vandergrift on July 3, 2009. The American flag over Grant Ave. was awesome!
