Basement fire turns into working fire in the borough
Sat. May 15th 2010

On Saturday May 15, 2010 at 1047 hours stations 50, 51, 53, Air 49, 69 RIT and 106 EMS were alerted for a reported basement fire at 509 Linden Street in the borough.  PD arrived on the scene and reported smoke showing from the building.  Asst 50-2 arrived on-scene along with C51 and Linden St command was established.  Sn50 and L51 arrived on the scene after both establishing water supplies and advanced preconnects to the rear of the building to access the basement.  Company 200 was added to the alarm and E168 was added for the stand-by while EMS 116 was requested for their rehab unit.  Crews entered to suppress the fire and found blocked pathways.  Secondary lines were advanced off of Sn50 and advanced through the first division into the basement.  The fire ran the walls and quickly spread up the vertical supports in the center of the house and into the second floor.  Crews went to work opening the walls and suppressing the advancing fire.  The fire was extinguished within an hour and then extensive overhaul operations commenced for the next two hours.  Crews were then released by command and returned to service.

Pictures and video will be added as they become available!
