On June 22nd members of VFR and Parks Twp. VFD met at the salvage yard of choice, Kochka's, for a night of training on vehicle rescue. The group was split into three teams and each moved through a series of three stations. An SUV resting on all fours, a side resting vehicle, and a vehicle resting on it's roof were all stabilized using various cribbing, jacks, and the res-q-jack system off of R51. After the three stations were completed by all groups they were split into two equal groups where they got hands on use with pneumatic and electric rescue tools in one station and lift a vehicle on it's side using the two res-q-jacks to simulate a victim trapped underneath. The drill was well attended and well received by those who came out on a hot and humid day. As always, a special thanks to the folks at Kochka's Towing for the use of the yard and the vehicles that were!
